2017 to today.
In the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation
In 2017 the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation was exclusive sponsor of the Exhibition ‘ШедеврыВизантии/ Byzantine Masterpieces’, which was organized jointly by the Hellenic Ministry of Culture and Sports and the Tretyakov Gallery, in the latter’s historic central building in Moscow. Eighteen religious works from the Byzantine and Christian Museum of Athens, the Benaki Museum and the Velimezis Collection were displayed and an accompanying catalogue of the same title was published.
We then went on to organize in the Museum of Byzantine Culture of Thessaloniki (27-10-2017) the exhibition ‘TEMPLON. Holy figures, invisible gates of faith. 20th and 21st centuries’, again accompanied by a catalogue of the same title and with exhibits mainly from the Velimezis Library Collection, that is with twentieth century works. The project was funded entirely by the Aikaterini Laskaridis Foundation.
Publicity of the exhibition and its catalogue was handled by the Velimezis Collection Team in collaboration with MVN Consultants, in venues all over Greece: in Thessaloniki (Museum of Byzantine Culture, 13-12-2017), Patras (Cultural Organization of the Municipality of Patras, 16-3-2018), Kalampaka (N . Liapis Civic Hall, 20-3-2018), Volos (Giorgio de Chirico Art Centre, 14-5-2018) and Nicosia on Cyprus (ΡΙΚ, 25-1-2018).
In 2018, to mark the 25th anniversary of the death of Nikos Gavriil Pentzikis (1908 – 1993), we organized in Greece three one-day colloquia in commemoration of his multifaceted oeuvre. The colloquia took place in collaboration with his son, the well-known literary figure Gavriil N. Pentzikis and with well-known scholars, in the hall of ceremonies of the Laskaridis Foundation (Piraeus, 13-3-2018), the Melina Mercouri amphitheatre of the Museum of Byzantine Culture (Thessaloniki, 9-5-2018), and later in the central building of the Benaki Museum (Athens, 24-1-2019).
Since 2020, the Foundation has been running educational programmes and guided tours of the Velimezis Icon Collection. It also coordinated the creation of the present Website of the Velimezis Collection.
